Less R&B style, more garage punk. With a style of their own, The Routes makes the diference of almost al of the bands around. Introducing the wild sounds of The Future Primitives, a psychedelic garage rock three-piece from Cape Town, South Africa.

Formed in late 2011, they set out to experiment with sounds from the past and the present. Drawing influence from early rock n roll, 60s garage and first era psychedelic groups, The Future Primitives are inspired by the pioneers, misfits and unknowns alike.

Their name hints at a contradiction that can be heard in their sound as the recordings are stripped of all technological advances, using beaten analogue gear and minimal microphone setups to record live to tape.

That is one of those bands I would love to release myself on VOODOO RHYTHM RECORDS, just to make that clear... I met CHRIS JACK back in Japan when I was touring with my band, THE MONSTERS. The gig in general was amazing and wild. We had naked men and almost naked girls at the show... and a rock’n’roll scene that I dream to have in Switzelrand, with lots of girl's bands.
I was super impressed, then Chris told me he had a band. He gave me his recordings and I heard that like 20 times a day... It was something like 10 years after I met The Sonics. FUCKING KILLER. Anyway, time went by and we kept contact all these years... Now THE ROUTES released an album on the fantastic GROOVIE RECORDS, from Portugal. A full INSTRUMENTAL album, a super fox on bass and a animal on drums, with the new Jeff Beck on guitars.
That is RAW WILD and OUT OF CONTROL guitar instrumentals with sometimes an EXOTIC touch as in "Bossa Hossa Nova", in "Shove-it" or in the beautiful "Yeti Spaghetti" and SURF instrumentals like "Luck Of The Devil" or the SMASHER "Hang Eleven".
This album is a super INSTRO KILLER! If you like The Shadows only, it may not be your cup of tea... but if you live in the gutter and drink booze instead of water, this album will be the HOLY GRAIL FOR ALL YOU SURF PUNKS OUT THERE!

THE MODDS - LEAVE MY HOUSE/ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD - GROORS101

Never reissued before in the original 45 rpm version, this two tracks are taken from the original master tapes of the band. The Modds, a Poplar Bluff, Missouri based band, cut a record in 1966 that has become a thing of legend, the ultra raw garage punk track, LEAVE MY HOUSE. The original 45 on ANR (American National Records) is a sought after rarity with some copies fetching as much as $1500. One peculiar thing about the original record is how up-front the guitar and vocals are in the mix. But the tapes reveals a layer hidden in the 45 version, where a second fuzz guitar, bass, and drums are now a part of the maelstrom! And you can have it here in this beautiful Groovie Records 7" with a real cool and original picture of the band in the front cover. Small story of the band in the back with another rare pic of the band on stage. Limited to 500 copies...grab it!

Since forming in 2007, The Electric Mess have developed into an exciting and tight rock n' roll band, led by an androgynous and dynamic lead singer, Chip Fontaine (aka Esther Crow). Their self-titled debut album, featuring the songs "You've Become a Witch,"
"Trash Talkin' Woman," and "She Has a Funny Walk," received excellent reviews and made numerous "Best of 2010" lists. All 13 of its tracks have been heard on U.S. and international radio stations.

OS TARTAROS - THE FIRST PORTUGUESE SURF GARAGE BAND - 1964-1967 - LP

In the early 1960s, when rock ‘n’ roll started dying in Portugal, a new fad was already here. Hailing from the UK and headed by Cliff Richard, fast upstaged by his supporting band The Shadows, this would be the first ‘British Invasion’. An entire generation quickly fell under its influence and all across the country dozens of bands were formed, playing rock-based guitar-driven instrumental songs with catchy tunes that were often adaptations of traditional songs. Oblivious to what was happening abroad, the Portuguese press dubbed them ‘Shadows-influenced instrumental bands’. This was the context in which Os Tártaros were formed in an Oporto garage. This LP compiles all the 4 ep's from the band. A very important document and the first anthology of a 60's rock band. Os Tartaros shows also a few tracks in the PORTUGUESE NUGGETS compilations. Other bands will be rereleased by Groovie in the times to come.
